Ramon Santiago Camp Good Days & Special Times, 15th Anniversary
Poster, 1994
Size: 18.75 X 18.25"
Condition: Mint (like new)
This print depicts a young child and a clown in soft yellows and bold
blacks in Santiago's unique and individual style. Camp Good Days and
Special Times, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides a camping
experience and more for children and adults facing the toughest challenges
of life. Children touched by cancer, and other life challenges, gather
Camp Good Days Recreational Facility located on the shores of Keuka
Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes Region to spark new smiles, re-kindle
friendships and enjoy a week where they can simply be kids. The weekend
camping programs for men and women with cancer become a place where
old bonds are strengthened and new ones created. It is a place where
smiles are the norm and hugs mandatory, a place where visions are born
and dreams discovered, a place where courage knows no boundaries. It
is Camp Good Days and Special Times.
Ramón Santiago was born September 4, 1943 in Rochester, New York.
He began painting in 1961 while attending Mt. San Antonio College in
California. Two years later he returned to Rochester to study art at
Rochester Institute of Technology. He served with the United States
Marine Corps from 1965-68. After his discharge from the service, Santiago's
professional art career began.
Audiences have been drawn to Santiago's unmistakable vision, a figurative
style with dramatic fantasy. Elegant portrayals of beautiful women,
odd human-like creatures, symbolism, color and recurrent themes create
his haunting and enigmatic images. Influenced by Chagall, Dali, Picasso,
Pascin and Modigliani, Santiago prefers to work in mixed media and oil
on canvas. Over the past 30 years, Santiago has actively exhibited his
work in galleries and museums, both nationally and internationally.
